Becky Patterson-Markowitz is a master’s student in the School of Geography and Development interested in understanding how the world inscribes itself on bodies. She uses creative movement as a way to foster emotional intelligence and empathy among youth, particularly in post-conflict situations. She is a Tucson native. Prior to graduate school she worked for two years engaging Tucson youth as the Southern Arizona Youth Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Arizona Trail Association. She currently is one of two field coordinators for the University of Arizona’s Community and School Garden Project where she provides support for undergraduate and graduate students interning in public schools and community gardens throughout Tucson.
