We have been working with Borton Elementary since spring 2010. The school has a beautiful campus with a large vegetable garden on the east side, several smaller vegetable and flower plots near the school buildings, and a three-acre native garden and desert tortoise habitat. They have a chicken coop, a wood-fired adobe oven, and rainwater harvesting features, some of which were installed by one of our interns. They have a dedicated outdoor education teacher, Molly, who coordinates the gardening and ecology programs with teachers.
