Grijalva has worked with the SEEC program since 2016 and contains a series of small (10’x6’) gardens and potted plants in its interior courtyard. The garden was built and continues to be maintained by Grijalva family and friends. The beds include two pollinator gardens, certified by MonarchWatch.org, produce gardens, and native plant species. With the SEEC program, an after-school cohort of 2nd-5th grade students maintain the pollinator garden and work with Nature’s Notebook to monitor plant and animal life in the courtyard.
